FREELANCE CREATIVE CONSULTANT

 Austin, TX / November 2017 - Present

  • Drive the creation of narratives for themed entertainment and VR experiences. Brainstorm and create storylines, characters, backstories and nomenclature. Write treatments, show scripts, operational guides, website copy and other internal documents. 

  • Collaborate with art director on design, look, building materials and overall feel of the experience. Develop sensory — smell, sound, touch, lighting cues — of the attraction and provide inspirational materials/research as needed. 

  • Coordinate the translation of show documentation. Work with a freelance translator to revise pitch decks and show documents into Mandarin Chinese. Assist with revisions for alternative phrases and words.

CONTENT EDITOR    

Undercover Tourist / Austin, TX / November 2016 - November 2017

  • Initiated the creation of new blog topics. Reviewed competitor posts, search engine results and blog comments to identify content gaps. Researched and wrote blogs on identified topics. New posts increased overall website traffic and received positive customer feedback. 

  • Built a new content calendar schedule. Developed a 3-month plan of daily posts, highlighting due dates, revisions and publication. Resulted in a timely delivery of posts from freelance bloggers and no days without new content for publication. 

  • Developed new customer-facing video concepts to showcase the companies unique travel tips and products. Created, wrote and produced proof of concept videos for a new in-park series. Executive produced a video series that explored partner hotels. This series resulted in increased bookings at profiled locations. 

  • Implemented an Instagram Stories strategy for covering live events. Researched strategies and reviewed competitor offers to develop a multi-step plan. Collaborated with social media manager and on-site blogger to the refine plan. Strategy resulted in increased viewership and engagement during and after event. 

MANAGER OF VIDEO SERVICES

Round Rock ISD / Round Rock, TX / March 2013 -November 2016

  • Established the district’s first video content creation department. Began the district’s YouTube channel, developed video brand voice and designed the video content strategy. Through my work, the department was sought out by administrators and campuses for specific video needs. 

  • Generated the production of branded marketing, PSA, informational and educational videos. Handled all components of the video-creation process. Resulted in increased awareness of district initiatives and student achievement across social media. 

  • Drove production of a variety of customer-facing video projects for clients. Oversaw the brainstorming, pitching, writing shooting, editing, review process and distribution of videos. These videos resulted in increased donations, membership and other targeted results. People cried when they watched them too

  • Organized an underutilized digital filling catalog. Created a system for organizing in-project and archived files for clarity and easier access. This revision resulted in a streamlined post-production process.

  • Mentored a team member to increase their contribution to the department. Coached their behavior, identified their specific learning style and areas of opportunity.  This guidance led them to become a valuable contributor whose work strengthened all areas of production.

  • Oversaw the creation of outlines, treatments and scripts for commercials and video productions

COPYWRITER

Creative Civilization / San Antonio, TX / September 2008 - January 2012

  • Led the brainstorming, ideation and copywriting for various advertising campaigns. Researched industry trends, company culture and insights to develop strategic creative ideas. Brainstormed, pitched and wrote broadcast scripts, web copy, interactive and out of home content. Clients were thrilled with concepts and campaigns resulted in increased brand awareness.

  • Conceptualized a targeted campaign for a hospital’s pediatric care services. Collaborated with art director and production company to guide creative vision. This campaign resulted in increased pediatric patient enrollment and won local advertising awards for creativity. 

  • Oversaw the casting and directing of talent for various radio ads. Selected cast, oversaw audios and directed talent during recording session. Radio ads resulted in increased customer interest in company.
